Thing Five

I've been very busy. End of the marking period, coaching an OM team, getting ready to go on vacation, family obligations in Detroit, a son who's a senior at EK (very expensive -senior year),
etc., etc. Well, Googles documets are really cool. My only complaint or struggle is that when I make a document, I add my own drawings and struggled not being able to do this. I don't draw well naturally and am even worse when using paint to draw on the computer. Plus I don't like to do something just for this assignment. I want what I do to be usefull to me/class. So I hope you can see me document: http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AWj2L77Z9sg3ZGZ2Zm00ejdfMWNkNnRzcWZ2&hl=en

Thing Four

I really enjoyed visiting Voice Thread and view some of their pod cast. I joined and created a voice thread titled, "Sea and Land Breezes." Or maybe it's, "Land and Sea Breezes." It was fun (and time consuming). In the future, I will write out a script so that my voice is not so choppy. I can see how this could be utilized in the classroom as another way for students to show what they have learned. I am struggling with all of my new usernames and passwords. I hope someone will view my voice thread and comment. I drew the pictures in "draw."

Thing Three

I've never had a photo sharing site. I know that you can limit who can view the photos, but do you need permission from parents to post a photo of their child? Can this be linked to our blogs? I'm going to take some photos of my students this week, set up a flicker account and see how it goes. I would appreciate any feed-back anyone can give me. I have had a classroom website before, but not many students took advantage of it. I think we have a lot of poverty students who don't have computer access. I'm not sure if I want to set up a Shutterfly classroom site. I want to see what others are doing.

Thing Two

Setting up my Delicious account was easy. In the past I would bookmark or add sites to my "favorites" on my school computer and they would get wiped out over the summer. I've tried to copy and paste my favorite links to a word document so that I could save them (and I've had success with this strategy). However, this is great because I can access it anywhere, rather than just at school.

First Blog Web 2.0

Setting up a gmail account and this blog site seems pretty easy. Thanks Brooke for the easy directions and video. The lttlest thing can consume a lot of time when you don't know how to do something. I can see how tweeking the site to my taste and style could also eat up a lot of time. I have a lot of science sites that I want to add. Right now I'm looking under my "Favorites" on my desktop to add some sites. I'm wondering who is going to want to view this. Hopefully I can use this with my students and their parents. I'm also looking forward to adding pages and seeing how this can help my students. Will Kentwood students be able to view blogs and respond to them? How can I find out who is also taking this class so that we can view their blogs and they can view mine? I hope people come to that first class tomorrow night. See everyone then.
